What time should I schedule my photo session? (Month by month, EST)

Hi friends! I thought I'd start "spilling" some helpful tips for bride + grooms, families + seniors! After my second full wedding season, I feel like I now have the "been there, done that" mentality (In a good way! Nothing surprises this chick)! I don't plan on getting into nitty gritty camera details.. Instead I plan on sharing some really important ideas/concepts that you should know while you're 1. planning a wedding or 2. planning a session with me (engagement, family, senior or otherwise!). To kick things off I'm going to share the best times to schedule a shoot according to the month of the year (EST).

Have you ever heard photographers talk about "golden hour?" Often it's mentioned with such excitement and childlike enthusiasm you might think gold is literally falling from the sky! Unfortunately that's not the case... But golden hour IS by far the best time of day for photographers to do what they do best! And it's also the best time for you to schedule your session!

For couples, this will give you a guide for when we will need to shoot your engagement session + also when you should try to schedule portraits in your wedding day timeline (because sunset portraits are a MUST)! For families/seniors/session folk, this will let you know when to expect your session to be scheduled and whether you might have to sneak out of work early or keep the kids up a bit later than usual..

So here they are (based on EST!)

January 3:30pm - 5:00pm

February 4:00pm - 5:30pm

March 4:30pm - 6:00pm until daylight savings, 5:30pm - 7:00pm after daylight savings

April 6:00pm - 7:30pm

May 6:30pm - 8:00pm

June 7:00pm - 8:30pm

July 7:00pm - 8:30pm

August 6:30pm - 8:00pm

September 5:30pm - 7:00pm

October 4:45pm - 6:15pm

November 4:15 - 5:45pm until daylight savings, 3:00pm - 4:30pm after daylight savings

December 3:00pm - 4:30pm

I hope this tip was helpful! Keep an eye out for the next tip - The first step to creating a custom wedding day timeline!
